In October 2018 LANtech were awarded a large contract by the Dodd Group a large M&E Contractor in the South West to supply and install a complete new CAT6A U/UTP LSZH network within the new Hi-Tech & Digital Centre at South Devon College in Paignton.

South Devon College have benefitted from a £17m investment to provide a cutting-edge specialist centre for education and training to support the growing Hi-Tech manufacturing, digital and creative sectors in the area. Facilities such as manufacturing and electrical testing are located at ground level, with state-of-the-art photography, sound studios and 100 seat screening suite located in the drum. The illuminated drum is a powerful feature of the building and is both functional and beautiful and is visible both internally and externally.

At the heart of the building sits a multi-height space connected by a contemporary stair design linking all floors for ease of use. Six large roof lights flood the main space with natural light. Translucent poly-carbonate panels on the south façade, along with large format windows to the north provide a light, spacious environment for users.

LANtech Communications provided a complete Excel CAT6A U/UTP LSZH data cabling solution for the entire project, incorporating approximately 1100 Excel CAT6A U/UTP outlets for use as desktop data outlets for three different internal networks, WIFI, CCTV and Access Control outlets arranged over three levels of the building, with the main server room housed on the first floor.

LANtech install 2x diversely routed 16core OM3 fibre links between the new Hi-Tech and existing Vantage Building and internal 16core OM3 fibre links between the new server room and remote comms cabinets. The new server room consists of 3x Cooper B-Line 42u 800x1000mm cabinets bayed together to accommodate the field/backbone cabling and active equipment.

LANtech have provided an Excel 25year Warranty, along with the necessary test certification and as fitted drawings for the installation. All work was completed on time and to budget.
