November 2019 LANtech was awarded a sizable contract by the Dodd Group a large M&E Contractor in the South West to supply and install a complete new CAT6/CAT6A U/UTP LSZH network within the new refurbished former Rolle Campus site in Exmouth for the DEAF Academy.
The new DEAF Academy has benefitted from a £10.5m investment to refurbish the existing Owen Building and the Construction of the new 2 storey Academy Building and three storey Residential Accommodation Building. The Academy features a high-ceilinged Atrium at its heart with wider corridors to allow students to walk side by side and with desks in classrooms arranged in a horseshoe configuration to aid communication.
Break-out rooms provide space where students can be taught in small groups, take time out or receive therapies, such as speech and language therapy. The proximity to the classrooms will mean students no longer have to take prolonged periods away from their lessons to receive therapies, either off-site or in other areas of the academy.
Residential students will live together with care staff in ‘family’ flats. In these brand-new, self-contained flats with a common room, students will have the opportunity to grow as young people.
LANtech Communications provided a complete Excel CAT6 UTP LSZH data cabling solution for the entire project. The data cabling incorporated 586 Excel CAT6 UTP outlets for use as desktop/CCTV/Access Control data outlets, & 90 CAT6A U/FTP outlets for site wide WIFI coverage. The main server room is housed in the first floor Server Room in the Academy Building.
A complete 8core OM3 multimode fibre optic cable backbone was supplied and installed between the three new/existing buildings emanating from the Academy Building Server Room.
Within the Main Server Room LANtech have provided 2x Excel 42u 800x1000mm server comms cabinets, one to house the internal network cabling with the second housing all the active equipment.
LANtech have provided an Excel 25year Warranty, along with the necessary test certification and as fitted drawings for the installation. All work was completed on time and to budget.
